Almost everyone agrees that SEO is the best way to drive targeted traffic to your blogs. There are actually no more secrets for SEO, as there are many people know about it. However, the search engines are like a huge war now. How many people can survive in this huge war and get what they’re craving for?
So, which ways work the best and show the best results?
1) Target the right keywords
You’ll definitely get frustrated if your sites are ranked high in Google but you get no traffic. Targeting the right keywords are very important. Optimizing keywords that have no demand is wasting your time. Do some surveys to find out what are the most profitable keywords among your niches. After you’ve got your main keyword, don’t optimize it directly because it’s too competitive and you won’t be able to survive later. Instead, expand your main keyword. You can use this free tool to get the keyword suggestions. You should target 2 to 3 keywords which are in demand but less competitive.
2) Optimize the title and meta tags
After you’ve got the keywords that you want to target, you must put them in your blogs’ title and meta tags. Try to combine your keywords while doing this. For example, your keywords are “make money online from blogging” and “how to make money online easily”, you can combine them into something like “how to make money online from blogging easily” and put them as your title and meta tags. This step is essential for on-page SEO.
3) Optimize your posts with keywords
In order to let Google knows what you’re writing about, you should squeeze your keywords in your articles or posts.However, don’t overdo this, because you’ll be jailed by Google. It’s advisable to put your keywords into your titles. The next places where you must insert your keywords are the first paragraph (Introduction) and the last paragraph (conclusion, final words). Repeat at least two times in each of these paragraph. You should also put your keywords into your content paragraphs. Bear in mind, maintain the keyword density at around 3% to 5%.
4) Categorize your posts and optimize the URLs
The common mistake that bloggers make is that they don’t categorize their posts or they categorize them as “uncategorized”. Avoid making this mistake now (Later you’ll know why). You should always categorize your posts properly so that Google knows what you’re blogging.
If you’re using WordPress, you must pay extra attention for this part! Change your permalinks structure into “/category%/%postname%/” without the quotes. The default permalinks won’t help you in SEO. For example, now you make a post titled “My tips to lose your weight almost instantly” and you categorize the post as “Weight loss tips”. Your post’s URL will be http://www.yourdomain.com/weight-loss-tips/my-tips-to-lose-your-weight-almost-instantly/ instead of the default which gives you something like http://www.yourdomain.com/?p=123. By using this permalinks structure, you can fully optimize your URLs.
5) Update your blogs frequently
Search engines love frequently updated blogs. Update your blogs often can get Google’s attention. Update your blogs with articles that fully optimized with your targeted keywords will do better effect for SEO. My suggested update frequency is at least 4 posts per week, and update daily if it’s possible.
6) Article marketing
This is an old way but it’s still very effective. Submit some quality articles to article directories such as EzineArticles, ArticlesBase and GoArticles. Always link back to your blogs with your keywords as the anchor texts. This a way that you can get unlimited one-way backlinks to your blogs. You will get more backlinks to your blogs if you submit more quality articles to the directories.
7) Commenting on blogs which have top commentator plugin
This is one of the easiest way to get tons backlinks to your blogs. All you need to do is to drop useful comments on those blogs, and try to become their top commentators. Subscribe those blogs so that you’ll be notified once they update their blogs. If you’re the top commentators of one blog, you’ll actually get backlinks from every page that you’ve dropped comments on. Well, I can’t say that this is a way to get quality backlinks, but quantities. You’ll get a vast sum of backlinks by using this way. Remember don’t spam. Most bloggers do install Akismet. If you’re recognized by Akismet as a spammer, what you’ve done will no longer useful.
Guest posting
Guest posting is another way that I love. Guest posting is similar as article marketing, the only difference is you’re submitting articles to other blogs. This enable you to get quality one-way backlinks to your blogs with your keywords as the anchor texts. The good side of guest posting over article marketing is that you’ll actually get traffic from other blogs.
9) Organize competitions
Organizing competitions is another powerful way to get more backlinks. This can depend on your creativity and your budget. You can always ask them to write a review about your blog or your products and link to your blogs with your keywords as the anchor texts. This is a way to get many quality backlinks. You can offer them cash or your products as rewards. I would suggest you to have at least around 150 unique visits per day before you organize a competition.
10) Forum Marketing
I believe you agree that forum marketing is one of the way to get massive traffic and build credibility. A very simple action that you should do is to put your blogs links as the forum signature. Focus in few dofollow forums and post frequently on them. I frequent forums at least once a day to drop some quality replies. You’ll get a lot of quality backlinks hence it improves your search engine rankings.
